Two things about this post.
Because this is the first time I’m posting something to Nothing to Protect since setting up my blog over here on Substack, I figure I should say something about the nature of this section. This is a subscriber-only section of my blog, which may seem a big ironic considering the section title. Posts here actually originated from a blog I started over on Dreamwidth as a kind of secret place to post more general thoughts, reflections, and less polished pieces of writing. It was something I did in an attempt to replicate the ease of sharing my writing I had when I was blogging on Blogger, when the people on the Internet were slightly less terrifyingly hostile than they tend to be these days.
This is where I can safely post more vulnerable writing. Please be respectful of this. I truly believe that not everything we post online ought to be 100% public. In posting here I am making a choice of audience that is not just about what I have written, but about how my writing includes others.
